Mr. Treaster has over thirty-five years of experience in handling a variety of family law matters, including divorce and legal separations, child support modification, child custody and parenting plans and prenuptual agreements. This experience includes many District Court trials and proceedings before hearing officers. At the request of the First Judicial District Family Court Services Office, Mr. Treaster has presented family law seminars for indigent family law clients.
Mr. Treaster litigates personal injury cases involving wrongful death, catastrophic injuries and soft tissue injuries. He also successfully handles claims for product liability, medical malpractice, and automobile/truck accidents.
Mr. Treaster works for more than ten financial institutions and served as attorney for the New Mexico Credit Union League for over than ten years. This work involves extensive preparation of forms and opinions relating to lending, secured transactions, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Other work involves complex dealings with the liquidation of a financial institution, monitoring compliance with federal and state regulations, addressing legal issues related to human resources and personnel problems and collection work.
Mr. Treaster's work in mining law has involved litigation against state and county agencies. He successfully established the diminishing asset doctrine for the benefit of grandfathered mines in New Mexico.
Mr. Treaster's experience in construction litigation has involved representing both contractors and owners.
For the past twenty years, Mr. Treaster has served as the contract defender for over two hundred DUI cases prosecuted by Los Alamos County.
